International conferences are held by the Prague City Archives (and since 1998 in the co-operation with the Institut of International Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University in Prague) annually in the second week in October. They are focused on the urban history. The conference topics are always proposed with regards on the possibilities of interdisciplinary approach in co-operation with homeland and foreign institutions, i. e. universities and other research centres, archives, museums and libraries. The conference dealings are usually held in various languages (Czech, German, Polish, English etc.) and organisers provide simultaneous translation. M.A. and Ph.D. students are welcomed as participants.

The organisers aim at creating a space for fruitful discussions on contemporary topics of the urban history research on international levels. They present the dealings topics with regards on European research, often in comparison with the needs of the Czech, esp. Prague's researches. The possibility of creating and deepening of the personal relationships among Czech and foreign colleagues from various specialised scientific institutes during the conference dealings is the undoubted positive fact.

Selected conference contributions in form of original studies are regularly published in a reviewed, non-impacted periodical, The Documenta Pragensia.
