The Prague Population Register (Soupis pražského obyvatelstva) is one of the most important sources for family history research. The registration sheets/cards of people domiciled or residing in Prague may contain:
Records were kept according to the right of domicile, the bearers of which were usually men. Wives and children were added to the card of their husbands or fathers. For women, a separate sheet/card was issued only if they were heads of households. Children acquired their father´s right of domicile; in case of adult sons, their own sheet/card was usually issued when they got married; married daughters took over their husbands´right of domicile.
