School Attendance Records

The Prague City Archives (AHMP) preserve records of primary schools (obecné, národní školy) lower-secondary schools (měšťanské), basic schools (8-9-year school, základní školy), secondary schools, grammar schools (gymnázia), and vocational/trade schools (odborná učiliště) existing within the territory of Prague. 

School archives may preserve:

• pupil catalogues,
• class registers,
• enrolment books,
• examination records.

To identify the correct school records, researchers usually need:

• approximate residence of the family,
• school name,
• years of attendance.

Access to more recent archival records may be restricted due to the protection of personal data. Further information on the surviving records of individual schools is available in the Archival Catalogue.
